Is "Hushed Hybrid" At Your Workplace? You Make The Call

A survey shows a growing preference among workers for remote and hybrid work arrangements, despite many employers implementing return-to-office mandates.

According to a survey by FlexJobs, 57 percent of respondents would consider looking for a new job if they could no longer work remotely.

The source mentions the concept of "hushed hybrid", where managers allow employees to work remotely despite the employer's official policy:

Jasmine Escalera, a career expert with LiveCareer, describes the issue of "hushed hybrid" as "a sticky one."

"Hushed hybrid really is your manager allowing for you to potentially work remotely or have a flexible schedule, even though the organization is saying you have to come into the office," Escalera said. https://www.ktvh.com/business/jobs-employment/workers-prefer-flexibility-as-companies-roll-out-return-to-office-mandates (Oct. 15, 2024).

So, the question for our readers is: Is "Hushed Hybrid" at your workplace?

Please take the poll. Here is an opinion from one of the McCalmon editorial staff:

Retaining talent is a challenge and fundamental to success. It makes sense that some managers are seeking a way to keep their best talent especially if they can find – or make - a loophole in their return-to-work policies.
